Instead of write the profile data back via LDAP we would like to use Azure AD (Microsoft Graph API). LDAP is outdated and will not be used in the future.

We ultimately have decided not to implement a profile sync for Azure AD directly in Llinchpin. But: we did implement a generic Idp sync option a while back that allows to connect all kinds of Idps to Linchpin User Profiles. For the mapping you can use resolution's UserSync app (which is also included in the SAML SSO 5.0 for Confluence).

At the moment we are working together with resolution to make this sync even better by listening to change events, so that caches can be emptied appropriately and the like.

Yes, this will become increasingly important for many customers!
I would love to have that for our Linchpin, too. 
Very soon we will switch off our legacy AD (that still speaks LDAP) and I am already scared of configuring XML exports/imports of profile data -- and implementing this in a way our CISO can approve it will be a pain in the a..
