We will soon release a new MB 6.0 version with a basic version of this feature, showing a url preview for an internal url.

We are currently working on a first iteration of providing an URL preview for both Confluence and external Sources.

Still this topic is in exploration and we are not sure how "nice" we can implement this feature.

Unfortunately it is not easily possible to provide URL Preview for external URLs such as LinkedIn e.g.

It is technically challenging to ensure secure communication between Confluence Server and the external sites. Unfortunately, a front-end only preview does not work for most websites, so we will probably limit this feature to internal Confluence links only.

Hi Michael, 
with the new Microblog Editor (MB 5.0) we are thinking about enhancing features to include links and previews of websites. This seems not to be an easy task, though. 
Still this would be a great improvement for the Microblog.
