Display Users not in confluence-users (unlicensed users)
under review

User not in a licensed group are currently not displayed in LUP. We would like to use LUP not only as peoples directory for Confluence user but as people directory and phonebook for the whole company.
But it is not possible since not all employees use Confluence. They are inside LDAP anyway and
Linchpin should offer an option to display all active users, whenever they are inside the licensed groups or not.

We're also using the combination "User Deactivator for Confluence" and Linchpin and facing the same problem. Would be awesome to be able to show all users from confluence-users regardless of their current license status!

Why has the ticket been closed here?
There isn't a real solution yet, is there?
Angela Gaida
uWEB: No, that was a mistake. I had merged this issue with another one and that messed up an automation.

We have been expressing this wish for a few years now, but unfortunately this cannot seem to be realized.
We have now created phone books with Jira Assets and displayed them in Confluence. Here it is of course possible to display unlicensed users (e.g. from production) or rooms.

Hey Mark,
how exactly do you do that? With the normal assets Marco?

We have created a "people database" in Jira Assets with which we can record and display people. Using Jira ServiceManagement, we have created forms for creating and correcting people so that the database can always be kept up to date and colleagues can also make changes themselves as in LUP. We did this with the "normal" asset, but created some automation in Jira for the transfer from ServiceManagement to Asset. We then generated the lists in Confluence using AQL queries. So: No additional tools, just Confluence and Jira and Jira ServiceManagement linked together.
This has enabled us to record ALL employees in the company and also external partners who do not have a Confluence license.
We did this precisely because of the problem mentioned above: because no entries can be created in LUP for people who do not have a Confluence license.
Sincerely
Marc

Marc Hornschuh Thats sounds very interesting, thank you! Maybe this is also an alternative for us.

Merged in a post:
Option to change showUnlicensedUsers at People Search & List Macro

Marvin Meyer-Kahlen
It would be useful to have the possibility to change the option showUnlicensedUsers, which default is set to false. There should be an option to change it to true (or back to false) and save the setting.

Agreed! Also sounds a bit like a request that was raised before: https://linchpin.canny.io/linchpin-user-profiles/p/display-users-not-in-confluence-users-unlicensed-users
Angela Gaida
Rudi van der Molen: absolutely. I knew there was something very similar already here, but didn't have time yet to go on the search for it. Thanks for helping me out there, it probably makes sense to merge those two issues together.

That's a very good idea!

To be able to use Linchpin User Profiles in combination with the addon called "User Deactivator for Confluence" we also need unlicensed users to be displayed (User Deactivator for Confluence automatically removes the license for users that have been inactive for a period of time and automatically adds them again when they log in).
Angela Gaida
Rudi van der Molen: oh, nice to know that, thanks a lot. I wasn't aware of this app.
