If the event calendar doesn't show on the event hub, admins will configure their own event hub with calendar macro. In this case, a "create event" button working the same way as current (pop-up) should be available as a macro.

Nice one!

Would be great if the marco could also support a few (optional) parameters, e.g. to pre-configure

visibility (set to current space)
categories

This way we could make it easier for users to create events that will definitely show up in the event calendar on the specific page.
