Just a quick update on this one: it is still in the works, we had to iron out some unexpected kinks. But we're confident that it'll be available with the next versions of Linchpin Enterprise News / Linchpin Suite and Viewtracker respectively.

Actually, something like this is in the works right now. Although it's not inherent in the Linchpin News App.
Atlassian Partner bitvoodoo has an app called "Viewtracker". This app already has the ability to tell whether you have read a news article or not. Right now, we are implementing a visual indicator that conveys this information, so you can see which news items you have read and which ones you haven't. Of course this will only work if you use Viewtracker.
The functionality will be available early in the new year if all goes as planned.

Angela Gaida: I had heard about this, but guess I misunderstood that it would be integrated into Linchpin. To confirm, we have to purchase a Viewtracker license for this to work?
Angela Gaida
Misha Thornburgh: Yes, you need a Viewtracker license. We did have to do some work within Linchpin as well to make this work, so maybe there was a misunderstanding. It won't work without Viewtracker though.
We decided to do it this way instead of fully integrating the functionality within Linchpin, because a lot of our customers use Viewtracker anyway, so it doesn't make a difference for them. And also because we want to focus our (limited) resources and not put them towards solving problems that already have been solved.

We'd love in the list view of the News Hub to similarly have "New" articles be differentiated between read ones (similar to a forum).
