Make changing widgets on homepage easier for users

I really like the consistent layout of the Linchpin dashboard, but managing the widgets on the homepage does come across as quite complex. Perhaps this is due to having different locations with different dashboards? It would be easier if one could just edit the homepage widgets from the cog wheel on the homepage itself (similar to how Refined Theme works). Especially if regular manual text edits are necessary on sections like ‘New employees’ (which does not contain a query, but is manually compiled). I would not want an editor from our team to go this deep into the system to change texts on a dashboard. Besides, it would be even better if end users would be able to show/hide widgets in a personalised dashboard.

For a long time we thought we would implement this feature. However, we now know that we will not improve the usability for the dashboard in this complex way. The effort is not in good proportion with the benefit for our users.
Therefore, I am closing this ticket. Thanks to all of you who participated in the discussion!

Hi René Vlak, thanks for your input regarding dashboard configuration and widget management. We're currently having a look into this and will take your ideas into consideration. Since dashboards in Confluence are quite a complex thing it might take us some time to come up with a final concept here - but we'll let you know as soon as there's any progress.
Also, it would be great if we can reach out to you for some feedback on early prototypes? :-)

Daniel Roller: Hi Daniel, good to hear! No problem, feel free to reach out. But please note that we are using Refined Theme right now, we decided not to switch to Linchpin. So I won't be able to test any prototypes on our own environment.
