For accessibility reasons it's wise to add alt texts to images on pages, blog posts, for news teaser images or event images and so on.
However, so far this is optional - if an author doesn't enter an alt text, then there is none.
The idea here is to make these fields mandatory - or rather give the admin the possibility to make them mandatory.
