Personalized Content does not work with archived spaces

If I as an admin create a content group and try to link to a page in an archived space, it will not be found. Since spaces and pages that contain the source page excerpt macro for this use case should not be found in the normal search, the interface should support searching in archived spaces.
One possible solution would be to allow for the alternate notation <SPACEKEY>:<pagename> (like in the "include page excerpt"). As of now, this will lead to a failure when saving without an error being displayed.

Peter Scheidt can you please help me understand? What is the use case for pulling content out of an archived space?

Angela Gaida: The page that contains the actual "page excerpt" makro is - from the targeted users pov - duplicate content, because it will be presented to the intended target user "somewhere else" by means of the "include page exerpt" makro. This duplicate content will show up in searches everywhere, and when the user clicks on the result he will be taken to a page where the personalized content is shown most likely out of context.
To prevent this, personalized content can be centrally managed in a separate space which can be archived, thus excluding it from any search results.
I concede that this kind of information architecture might not be feasible for all and every customer, but we have been running into this now more than once. Most prominently we want to welcome users on the homepage in their town or company section or the like.
So, actually I need personalize the view of macro containing content within the page: put some content in the macro and then configure directly in the macro which users should be able to see it in the saved page.
Does this help?

Peter Scheidt: Yes absolutely, thank you for your explanation. I suspected it would be something along those lines, but I wanted to be sure. After all, we use the same mechanic for "hiding" news that are scheduled for a later date or wait for approval before being published.

A workaround for now is:
- create and/or edit desired pages in non-archived space
- embed the pages in LPC Content Group
- archive the space afterwards
The page links from Personalized Content should survive the archiving operation and continue to work.
