Reduced (animated) header when scrolling

Currently the header takes a lot of space and is either sticky (fixed) or disappears when scrolling - depending on the settings.
It would be nice to have the option to have a reduced narrow header with navigation (e.g. without flyouts or as a burger menu) and some hidden or reduced elements when scrolling down - and the full header when scrolling to the top again.

Within 'Theme' this is the thread with most votes.
(It was under review in 2019 but has since lost this status?)

Jan Priebe I don't see how to send you a direct message – could you tell us where the setting for "disappears when scrolling" is? Thank you!

Hopefully this issue will be adressed asap. I consider this as a top-issue. Cheers!

I also vote for this feature and I hope, it will be realized as soon as possible 😊

Since this issue has been brought up in several different tickets now and has a decent amount of votes, we'll take it into consideration for the next planning day, which is in January 20.

Hi Simon Bertran,
thanks for your suggestion. I moved the ticket to the Linchpin Theme board as this is something concerning the theme in general, not the menu itself, and merged it with this issue, which basically describes the same thing.

Smaller header for small sceens
Simon Bertran
On small screens, the menu bar and header take up a lot of space (e.g. 13 inch laptops).
The solution would be an alternative design for smaller screens based on standard Confluence or Jira, see Screenshots.

fixed header wasting third of the screen
Martin Wiegand
Hi,
on most pages, there is that giant header, fixed on top of my browser window, wasting one third of my screen real estate.
Also, the JS fixing the header ist very buggy und sluggish.
There is a "top" link on the bottom of the window, so please let me see more of the content im visiting for.

I like that idea. In fact, we almost would have built this already, there was a customer who we were in negotiations with for a sponsored development. It didn't work out though, because of internal reasons on the side of the customer. Maybe if there's a lot of votes on this one, we'll prioritize it in our backlog soon :)

Angela Gaida: Hello, what is the status on this requirement? We have recently introduced Linchpin and we also have some users complaining about the large header bar.

Angela Gaida: +1 also from my side. Just received a user request regarding this feature again.
Any news/updates on this topic? Thanks!
Update 10-Jun-2022 Angela Gaida: are there any updates on this request, any potential timeline about the implementation?
Danke!
