Expert Mode (CQL) for new People Search and List macro
complete
Angela Gaida
The deprecated macro Custom User List has an expert mode where you can select users to list by using CQL statements.
The new macro People Search & List doesn't offer this option. Therefore, some macros cannot be switched to the new version, they rely on using the CQL mode or expert mode.
The idea now is to offer an expert mode for CQL queries in the new macro.

Hi Angela,
our main use cases are "OR instead of AND" and "direct input of a user list". So this requirement fits to our needs.

I'm putting the use cases here that Daniel Schimanek listed in the other issue (https://linchpin.canny.io/linchpin-user-profiles/p/new-and-improved-macro-for-user-lists-and-user-search), so we don't lose that information.
- Have a possibility to combine different fields with an "OR" connection - we used "Expert mode (CQL)" for that
- State multiple users to create a manual list if there was no common field between these people, to have the same look and feel as at the "search-based" list - we used "Expert mode (CQL)" for that
- Exclude people/results using "NOT" / "!=" function
Everyone else who voted on this: I'd be very interested to hear from you what your use cases for CQL mode are. So far we have
- OR instead of AND
- direct input of (several) user names
- exclude (!=)
Are your use cases one of those three? Or do you have others? I'm really curious about how you use this feature in the old macro.

Angela Gaida: In addition, we use the Custom User List macro in combination with the Pivot table macro to dynamically display the count of people, e.g. to show the number of people in a team.
The result with the chosen settings is just a plain number, that can be used within a text.

Daniel Schimanek: wow, that's super interesting - thanks a lot for this insight!
Does this work with the new People Search & List macro as well?
