A Linchpin forums feature!

Forums show read vs. unread posts, plus new comments since last login usually. Microblogs don't have these features. This is also something that's been requested from our users from the very beginning, and we'd love to see a new view on the Microblogs that allows for this, because I agree that the basic functionality of the Microblog is very similar, but not close enough yet to properly mimic a forum.

Misha Thornburgh: Thanks for your input here! I would say it`s two different features we are talking about:
- Forums aka Communities for Linchpin - organize project, group, team communication, discuss topics not based on space-permissions or informations, share files etc. (At least that is what we could achieve with the MB App) - is this what you are asking for Philine Mitrea?
- More detailed information about unread microposts, that is interesting for yourself according to the topics you are watching etc. (even think this further to have intelligent suggestions based on tags matching e.g. fields in the profile etc.) - we somehow solve this with the daily e-mail digest for the MB.. Which is not the same, but at least a try to help people see what they missed.
Does that conclude both requests somehow?

Samuel Lerch: My users would definitely love the Forums aka Communities for Linchpin you described, as microblogs + permissions are also currently a hassle for us. :)
#2 is also an ask of ours, and also extends to blogs. Samuel Lerch should I create a separate suggestion for this? As we are trying to keep people from needing to rely on email notifications, the workaround is not the best for us. We previously utilized Discourse (https://discourse.org/) and many people miss those functionalities, which meant they could keep track of everything within the system.

Misha Thornburgh: Opening a new suggestion would be perfect, yes :) To be honest, I think this is a bigger task to be conceptualised and implemented, but it's an idea we've been thinking about for a while now, so if there are some interested customers it's possible that we invest some time in the exploration of that topic.
Addition: Please add the suggestion to the Microblog Topic: https://linchpin.canny.io/microblog thank you :)

Samuel Lerch: Exactly, the described Forums aka Communities for Linchpin feature would be what we happen to see as a demand from our customers. We are excited to hear more from that!

Did you have a look at our Microblog Plugin? You can use it forum like and create closed rooms. You can find more information about on our website! https://info.seibert-media.net/display/Atlassian/Microblogging+for+Confluence
Philine Mitrea
Robert Krause: sure I did, but in what way do you mean closed rooms? maybe I missed this feature, but as I see it, with microblog you can create many topics, but within a topic there is no further granularity (splitting into single discussion room) possible. Can you please clarify this for me?
Robert Krause
Philine Mitrea: Topics are always linked to a space and use the spaces permission. So when a space is only visible to a team, the topics and posts in this topic are only visible to those people as well.
In the topics can be post with their replies, which form a thread-like discussion like in a forum. To see only one discussion, you can click on the date of a post.
